Ecuador is a social state of
law, sovereign, unitary, independent, democratic, multi-cultural
and multi-ethnical. Our government is republican, presidential,
elective, representative, responsible, alternative, participative
and has decentralized management. The President of the Republic
exercises the Executive branch, and is the head of the State and
the Government he is also responsible for the public management.
The presidential term of office is four years and will begin on
January 15 of the following year of election. In order to be President
it is required to fully enjoy civil rights and have at least thirty-five
years of age.
The National Congress exercises the legislative branch with its seat in the city of Quito. The Congress also supervises the Executive branch and the Electoral Supreme Board. The Judicial branch is exercised by the Supreme Court of Justice, the courts, courts of justice, and court rooms established by the Constitution, the law and the National Judicial Council. Our country is located in the equator and is divided into different regions: Coast, Highlands, Amazon and the Insular area (Galápagos Islands). The main export products are: oil, banana, shrimp, tuna, flowers, coffee, cacao, etc. Also Ecuador has volcanoes, beaches, jungles and islands which turns our country into a destination for tourists from all around the world. |
